Breast lift augmentation and breast-feeding

In the past thirty years over eight hundred and fifty thousand women have had Breast lift augmentation surgery done. It is only natural that many of these women have breast-fed their children at some point. It has bee a common concern the effects that silicone could have on the offspring. Especially, the concern seems to liven up when the ghost of leakage appears. What if the silicone could pass to the milk? What if the baby would ingest it? What if the concerns about connective tissue disorders could pass onto the baby? Too many what ifs, apparently.

Much has been said about the size of the silicone molecule, and its virtual inability to break up in smaller molecules. The fact is that in some silicone implants removed, the silicone molecules have in fact broken up into silica dust and smaller silicon molecules, soluble in watery compounds, such as blood.

Studies have not been conclusive so far, but some cases have been reported of children exhibiting digestive disorders and low weight, and this condition has been attributed to the fact that their mothers had breast implants. Other cases were reported of kids with rheumatic complaints, and this condition was also suspected to be due to the breast implants.

The thing is, nobody knows for sure if a woman who has had a Breast lift augmentation procedure will in fact be able to breast feed. The question lies on whether the ducts or the glands have been damaged during the procedure.
